Faith at Work
Good morning brethren, I like to share on the topic “Faith at Work – Being a Believer in the Workplace.” As followers of Christ, our faith is not just for Sunday—it is for every day. One of the most significant areas where our faith should be visible is in the workplace. It is where many of us spend a large portion of our lives, interact with others, and often face unique challenges and pressures. The Scripture in Colossians 3:23-24 says “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Please note that God designed work from beginning even before sin entered the world. Work was meant to be meaningful, fulfilling, and a way to partner with God in creation. Genesis 2:15 says “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” As believers we need to begin to see work as a calling and part of God’s purpose, not just a paying job. Our work can be in form of worship, it can become worship when it is done with the right heart, excellence, and honesty. Worship is the way we live and not just singing or church attendance. Romans 12:1 “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
In the workplace, we are to live with integrity and excellence. Proverbs 10:9 says “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” Daniel was known for integrity, so that even his enemies could not find fault with him (Daniel 6:3-4). As believers, you should be known for honesty, reliability, and diligence and your excellence can open doors to witness for Christ. The workplace is a mission field, you must understand that people are watching how you respond to stress, unfairness, or even success. Matthew 5:14-16 says “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others.” Believers are to operate a life that reflects Christ, 1 Peter 3:15 says “Always be prepared to give an answer… with gentleness and respect.” How should believers respond to challenges in their workplaces? Christlike because we Know that many workplaces often includes difficult coworkers or unfair treatment. Believers are called to respond differently at workplace - not with gossip, retaliation, or bitterness—but with grace and prayer. Romans 12:17-21 says “Do not repay evil for evil… overcome evil with good.” Therefore choose kindness and patience when others expect anger or gossip. Wisdom is very important especially at workplace hence believers should not leave their faith at the door but rather bring God into their meetings and relationships. James 1:5 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God…” Begin your workday with prayer, ask God to help you be His representative and invite the Holy Spirit to guide your actions.
In conclusion, You are not just an employee—you are an ambassador of Christ, even at work. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” So wherever you work—whether in an office, a hospital, a school, or at home—remember: you are serving Christ and representing Him. May the Lord help us all to remain faithful, excellent, and bold in our witness, even in the workplace. In Jesus name. Worker’s Meeting is for 10:00am and Service Starts: 10:30 am. God blessings - Mike
