Habits as seeds & their Power
Good morning brethren, I would like to share a short message on the topic “Habits as seeds and their power.” Just as a farmer plants seeds and expects a harvest, life operates by spiritual laws and patterns. We must understand that every habit we practice is a seed that produces a future harvest. A habit is not merely a repeated action; it is a spiritual seed planted daily into the soil of our lives. Over time, those seeds grow into character, shape our destiny, and determine the results we experience. God designed life to function through the law of sowing and reaping. Every action, thought, and decision is a seed that will eventually produce fruit. Scripture reminds us in Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Good habits are seeds of righteousness. When planted consistently, they grow into blessings, wisdom, and stability. On the other hand, bad habits produce confusion, delay, and destruction. The harvest we see tomorrow is determined by the habits we practice today. In Genesis 8:22, God established a permanent principle “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest… shall not cease.” This reminds us that our habits are our seedtime, and our future is the harvest.
A life without godly habits lacks the structure necessary to sustain divine favour. For example, in Joshua 1:8, Scripture says “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night… for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” God did not simply promise Joshua success; He gave him a habit to practice. The pattern is clear: meditation on God’s Word day and night. Prosperity was connected to the disciplined habit of engaging with God’s Word. Joshua’s success was therefore not accidental—it was cultivated through daily spiritual practice. Another example is Daniel, in Daniel 6:10, we read that Daniel knelt and prayed three times a day. Even when prayer was outlawed, he did not change his habit. His life was rooted in consistent devotion, and God delivered him from the lions’ den. His habit became a spiritual shield. Jesus also demonstrated the power of spiritual habits. Before performing miracles publicly, He cultivated discipline privately. In Mark 1:35, we see that Jesus regularly withdrew to pray. This consistent habit kept Him aligned with the Father’s will and empowered His ministry. His public power was born from private discipline. Joseph’s life is another example of how habits shape destiny. His dreams revealed his future, but his habits prepared him for it. In Potiphar’s house he practiced integrity; in prison he practiced excellence and faithfulness; and in the palace he demonstrated wisdom and leadership. Scripture also teaches that our faith is revealed through our habits (James 2:17). Habits are the daily evidence of faith. A person who truly believes in God will eventually develop habits that reflect that belief—prayer, obedience, generosity, forgiveness, and discipline. Indeed, our habits shape our character and influence our destiny (Proverbs 22:6). In conclusion, good habits are seeds planted into the soil of life. Every prayer, act of obedience, discipline, and decision to follow God is a seed that will one day produce a harvest. God observes our patterns. When our daily habits align with His principles, our future begins to align with His promises.
Therefore, let us cultivate the habits of prayer, meditation on the Word, obedience, gratitude, and faithfulness. In the Kingdom of God, the habits we practice today become the seeds of our destiny tomorrow. Service starts at 10:30am, and the worker’s meeting will be at 10:00am. God’s blessings - Mike
