Mother's Day

Good morning brethren, as we celebrate Mother’s Day today, I would like to encourage all mothers and prospective mothers with the topic: “God sees the sacrifices of mothers.” Let me begin by saying that motherhood is a sacrificial calling created by God. Mothers give their time, strength, sleep, comfort, and sometimes even their personal dreams for the sake of their children. Many of these sacrifices happen quietly and go unseen by the world, but the truth is that God sees every sacrifice you make. The Scripture in Hebrews 6:10 says “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of love.” This means that God sees every act of love from mothers—every prayer whispered over a child and every tear shed for the family. Motherhood involves many hidden sacrifices that may not always be noticed. For example, a mother wakes up early, sleeps late, worries about her children, and constantly pours herself out for her family. The Bible confirms this in Matthew 6:4:

“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Therefore, even when there is no “thank you,” God still notices your sacrifices. Hannah is a biblical example of a mother who demonstrated the depth of a mother’s sacrifice (1 Samuel 1:10, 27–28). Her dedication and sacrifice show that a mother’s faith can shape the destiny of generations. We must also consider the pains and emotional burdens mothers often endure for their children—burdens that others may never see. A powerful biblical example is Mary, the mother of Jesus. She faced challenges from the beginning—through her pregnancy, the birth, and the raising of Jesus. She even watched Him suffer and stood at the cross as He died (John 19:25). While we thank God for the salvation that came through this process, we should remember that God saw Mary’s faithfulness and her pain. The same God also sees the sacrifices of every mother today. Another example is Jochebed, the mother of Moses. She sacrificed her safety and risked her life to protect her son when Pharaoh ordered that all Hebrew baby boys should be killed (Exodus 2:1–3). Her courageous action was honoured by God, and Moses later became a great leader. This shows that a mother’s faith can protect and guide a child toward God’s purpose. God rewards every sacrifice done in love. Ephesians 6:8 reminds us “Whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord.” In the Bible, God even uses the love of a mother as an example of His own love. In Isaiah 49:15, He says “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast…?” This shows that heaven keeps record of a mother’s sacrifices and that God recognises the value of a mother’s nurturing love. Another important point is the positive influence of godly mothers on their children.

A biblical example is Eunice, who, together with her mother Lois, taught the Scriptures to her son Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5). Their faith helped produce a young leader who became a great servant of God. Even today, the Church and the world continue to benefit from the spiritual seeds that mothers plant in their children. In conclusion, I would like to emphasise that God sees the sacrifices of mothers—your tears, your faith, your sleepless nights, your endless giving, your silent prayers, and your unconditional love. So let me give three cheers to every mother Your work matters. Your sacrifices matter. Your prayers matter. May God bless you all, Happy Mother’s Day! Our service begins at 10:30 am, and the worker’s meeting will be at 10:00am. God’s blessings - Mike
