Faith under pressure

Good morning brethren, I like to write on a topic “Faith under pressure” By this, I am referring to those moments in life when we must stand firm in the face of trials and testing. Life, as we know, is full of challenges—moments that will either strengthen a believer’s faith or cause him to stumble. But trials are not meaningless. In fact, they are a vital part of God’s process to refine, purify, and mature His children. Scripture says in James 1:2–4 says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” This means trials are designed not to destroy us but to build us up—to form character and deepen our dependence on God. As 1 Peter 1:6–7 reminds us, trials test the genuineness of our faith, which is of greater worth than gold. And Romans 5:3–5 shows us the progression “Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

Sometimes, God allows trials so we can learn to depend fully on Him. As Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Job was an example of one whose faith was under pressure, he lost everything but refused to curse God. He said, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him.” (Job 13:15). Joseph was another, even when he was betrayed, enslaved, and imprisoned unjustly, he  remained faithful. In the end, this was his declaration concerning his brothers, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.” (Genesis. 50:20). Daniel’s faith was under pressure by threat, yet he continued to  pray to God despite the threat of the lions’ den (Daniel 6). And of course, Jesus was tested in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11) and in Gethsemane (Luke 22:42) but submitted to the Father’s will and endured the cross. A believer who desires to remain firm in his faith during trials must learn to stay rooted in God’s word, Psalm 119:11 says “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” He must also learn to Pray without ceasing or pray continually Philippians 4:6–7  tells us that through prayer and thanksgiving, we can gain peace that guards our hearts. We are also to rely on the Holy Spirit because the Spirit helps us in our weakness (Romans 8:26). Fellowship strengthens us in times of difficulty, this is an important step to stand firm during trials (Hebrews 10:24–25). There are wonderful benefits for those who endure to the end. James 1:12 says “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial… they will receive the crown of life.” God presence is promised to those who endured  to the end, Isaiah 43:2 says “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…”

In conclusion, trials are not a sign of God’s absence rather, they are often signs that God is actively working in us, to refine, strengthen, and prepare us for greater things. Let us not give up when pressure comes, but instead hold firm, knowing that  God is with us. God is for us. And His grace is sufficient for us. May the Lord strengthen us and give us grace to perceive, endure, and overcome every trial in Jesus name. Amen! Reminders: Workers’ Meeting: 10:00 AM. Main Service: 10:30 AM. God’s blessings!  - Mike
